- Building the Best Boat Possible-
The story of CABO Yachts starts in 1988, when Henry Mohrschladt and Michael Howarth sold their acclaimed sailboat company, Pacific Seacraft Corporation, and promptly set out to build a sportfisher that would be unrivaled on the water. Ironically, they began their company in Adelanto, California, a small town in the high desert, relocating to New Bern, NC in 2011.
In 1991, after years of research, design, and consultation with industry experts and fisherman from around the world, CABO made history with the launch of the first 35 Flybridge. Almost overnight, a company virtually unknown in the boating industry redefined the standard of quality within the niche. Beefy custom hinges, molded-in bait tanks, fully gelcoated bilges, and a spacious interior were only a few aspects of this benchmark boat the immediately placed it into a higher echelon.
Since then, CABO has launched a fleet of fine-tuned vessels whose design, components, and capabilities stay true to the company's reputation for building unsurpassed sportfishing machines. Settling for nothing but the best and taking heed to the feedback from customers and dealers, CABOs now have bigger and more powerful engines, sleeker and lighter hulls, and accommodations and amenities grand enough to suit a fish-fighting king.
From its inception, CABO vowed to out-service its competition by all means necessary. Through the incorporation of a "no-hassle" policy and aiming to make the warranty aspect of boat ownership as painless as possible, the company has widened the gap between itself and its competitors even further, and our customers consistently tell us how valuable our approach to customer service is to them.
Through the years, CABO has proven itself to be an industry leader, innovator, and trendsetter. Putting it simply, Michael Howarth said, "We put every bit of energy we have in trying to build the best boat possible. We're never going to let a boat out of our place unless we're proud of it." Even though Mike and Henry have moved on, their philosophy has indeed established CABO as a boating powerhouse, and laid a foundation for a successful future.
- CABO's-
Since 1991, CABO Yachts has established itself as a powerhouse among makers of premium quality sportfishers. A remarkable feat in an industry where history isn't measured by decades, but by generations. How has CABO accomplished so much, in 20 years?
One Mission. Before the first boat was ever delivered, CABO's goal was clearly stated. Build the best sportfishers money can buy. Simple some may say. But that goal with that single word, best is CABO's operating principle towards which all activity is focused.
One Outcome. Success. Many were incredulous at an industry newcomer with such boldly stated goals. Now they simply admire and compliment the most sought after sportfishers in the world. From the flagship 52 Express to the 32 Express, the entire CABO line offers unmatched workmanship, engineering and performance in boats designed and built with a single goal - perfection.
One Choice. For many looking for a new sportfisher the choice is now much easier. It's no longer which boat, but which CABO. A choice with only one positive outcome...perfection.
- Design and Construction-
CABO Yachts is one of the most successful boat builders in the business today thanks to our undying commitment to superior design and construction. Our never-ending mission to utilize the best materials, engineering, layouts, and manufacturing techniques keeps us a leading choice among the world's top anglers and marine industry experts. These talented individuals recognize CABO's unmatched product and performance excellence, and the advantage our sportfishers present over the competition.
Cutting-Edge Hull Design
Every CABO stands ready to combat real-world offshore conditions. Our design team, in conjunction with award-winning Michael Peters Yacht Design, has created a series of incredibly powerful hulls in which biaxial stitched fiberglass is bonded with vinylester resins that are not only lighter and stronger than conventional resins, but also more corrosion resistant.
We use high-tech laminating processes such as vacuum-bagging to assure tremendous hull and topside deck strength. Practicing a method far superior to traditional techniques, CABO also bonds the running bottom and reinforced fiberglass interior module into one monolithic structure, ensuring greater resistance to torsion and flexure.
Special consideration has gone into creating our high-performance hulls ensuring that each one is steadfast in squalls as well as in calm seas as anyone who has ever ridden in a CABO can tell you.
- Flawless Engine Rooms-
Our engine rooms are nothing short of engineering marvels, each one featuring a straightforward layout for unparalleled accessibility to the components. Most importantly, 360 degrees of working space surrounding each of the twin diesel engines means convenient maintenance or repair. All other systems electrical, plumbing, etc. are meticulously organized, easily accessible, and grouped by category whenever possible.
Because safety and reliability are key areas of concern for owners, our fuel lines are fire-retardant, aircraft-grade braided stainless steel and our wiring is marine-grade tinned copper to resist corrosion. To prevent chafing, all plumbing and wiring that run through bulkheads are protected with polymer or high-grade solid rubber grommets.
Our engine rooms are completely finished in white gelcoat or linear polyurethane paint for simple cleanup. AC or DC lighting illuminates maintenance jobs, and on larger models, ventilation fans keep the space cool. Simply put, engine rooms as organized and detailed as these can only be the result of skilled designers who strive for nothing less than total customer satisfaction.
- Custom Electrical Systems-
The electrical panel isn't something that most boaters get over-excited about unless they're aboard a CABO. Each of our electrical systems is built by master marine electricians who are at the top of thier game.
Closed, the electrical panel displays all switched electrical systems, with the components clearly labeled and backlit, allowing visual review and fingertip control. Opened, the clarity of the layout becomes even more evident; divided into AC and DC units, all wires are neatly bundled and labeled, and follow perfectly parallel lines.
The CABO electrical system is just one more example of the superior quality found in our highly respected yachts.
- Absolute Fishability-
Step aboard a CABO and it's immediately apparent that our boats are made by fishermen for fishermen. First and foremost, our cockpits offer more square footage ¿ at times they're bigger than the cockpits found in much larger boats and we include a long list of standard fishing amenities that are often options on comparable models.
Careful thought goes into the placement of every element in the cockpit, especially essentials such as bait tanks, livewells, bait prep centers, and tackle storage. Insulated fish boxes are molded into the sole and equipped with in-line macerators, full-length piano hinges, and doors that seal tightly against rubber gaskets. If owners choose, the boxes can also be equipped with optional icemakers and/or refrigeration plates.
Storage throughout the cockpit is abundant, leaving the area clean and free of obstructions when reeling in a fish. Lures and rigging equipment are neatly organized in custom-built tackle centers. Larger models feature a bait prep sink, bait chests, and optional freezer for extended time offshore. To conserve space, livewells are located in the transom when possible. (These are also lighted for nighttime use.)
The outward-opening transom door and top gate operate independently, providing safety for the angler and crew while bringing large fish aboard. Padded bolsters ring the cockpit for extra comfort and security when using a stand-up rig. An aluminum reinforcing plate installed in the deck for mounting a fighting chair goes a long way to helping you haul in the tournament-winning fish.
Of course, there's also abundant rod and tackle storage on the bridge deck and in the cabin. And in the engine room, our muscular power packages promise to get you to the fish well before the competition. It's all part of our goal to make the most successful sportfishing boats imaginable.
- Refined Accommodations-
The interior of a CABO speaks volumes about our company's continued commitment to excellence. To begin with, teak is used throughout the boats, and to ensure consistency and continuity, each individual element is milled in-house and stored in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment during the construction process. The woodwork is sanded, applied with multiple coats of marine varnish, and then buffed to a beautiful satin finish.
Our galleys are impressively equipped and beautiful, too. Polished Corian® countertops, spacious refrigerators and freezers, twin-burner cook tops, molded-in sinks, and microwave/convection ovens make cooking aboard a CABO enjoyable, not a chore. The teak cabinetry with crosshatch ventilation is not only attractive, but also functional, allowing the constant air circulation that is necessary in a closed environment. Positive-latching cabinet hardware prevents doors from opening in rough seas, while hinges are designed to keep doors ajar until you close them.
Whether you prefer listening to music, watching a movie on your flatscreen television with DVD player, or just relaxing with a book, there's plenty to keep you entertained. Staterooms combine warm woodwork with designer fabrics, creating a soothing, restful retreat. Hanging lockers are cedar-lined, and additional storage beneath berths, under settees, and behind bulkheads is easily accessed. Every inch onboard is a precious commodity, and no space is wasted on a CABO.
- Obvious Pursuit of Excellence-
Without a doubt, a CABO is more than the sum of the parts. Every piece is painstakingly evaluated to ensure that it is the best it can possibly be. Design, engineering, and maintenance are all carefully considered, examined, and double-checked.
Take, for example, our transom doors. We use a two-part mold, giving both the interior and exterior a smooth gelcoat finish. Instead of using a single opening, we keep the safety of the angler in mind with an outward-opening door and independent top gate. Heavy-duty hinges are secured with flat-head, straight-slotted bolts, which are offset for optimum holding.
All rails, ladders, vents, cleats, rod holders, the helm wheel, controls, and most other components are custom designed and manufactured to adhere to CABO's strict standard of excellence. Instead of the 304 stainless-steel alloy most boat manufacturers use, we use only the stronger, more durable 316 stainless-steel. The higher nickel content results in superior corrosion resistance and strength, plus good looks.
CABO incorporates only the finest materials and employs a unwavering attention to details that leave most of the industry trying to catch up.
